Second Quarter and First Half 2026 Results

AmeriServ Financial, Inc. (NASDAQ: ASRV) reported net income of $2,738,000, or $0.16 per diluted common share, for the second quarter of 2026. This compares to a net loss of $282,000, or $0.02 per diluted common share, in the same period of 2025. For the six months ended June 30, 2026, net income totaled $4,532,000, or $0.27 per diluted common share, a 170% increase from $1,626,000, or $0.10 per diluted common share, in the first half of 2025.

The company attributed the improvement to higher net interest income, increased non-interest revenue, and a lower provision for credit losses. Net interest income rose $942,000 (9.1%) in the second quarter and $1.8 million (9.0%) in the first six months. The net interest margin expanded by 24 basis points to 3.34% for the quarter and 3.30% for the six-month period, driven by effective balance sheet management and a steeper yield curve. Wealth management fees also contributed to non-interest income growth.

Balance Sheet and Asset Quality

Total average loans declined $47.2 million (4.4%) in the second quarter and $42.3 million (4.0%) in the six-month period, primarily due to elevated commercial real estate loan payoffs. However, total loans remained above $1.0 billion, averaging $1.022 billion in the second quarter. Loan interest income decreased $331,000 (2.2%) in the quarter and $433,000 (1.5%) in the six months, as lower balances offset higher rates.

Investment securities averaged $295.2 million in the second quarter, up $38.7 million (15.1%) from a year earlier, reflecting deposit growth and reinvestment of loan prepayments. Interest income from investments increased $741,000 (26.9%) in the quarter and $1.3 million (25.1%) in the six months. The provision for credit losses declined, benefiting from improved asset quality. Non-interest expense rose, but was partially offset by higher non-interest income.

Dividend Declaration

The board of directors declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.03 per common share, payable on September 11, 2026, to shareholders of record as of August 28, 2026.

What it means for income investors

AmeriServ's improved earnings and stable dividend payout reflect stronger net interest income and credit quality. The $0.03 per share quarterly dividend is consistent with recent payments, supported by the company's solid capital and liquidity position.
